Embark

Embark the ship in Aswan.

Day 1: Aswan

Arrive in Aswan and board the deluxe Sun Boat III from midday. Enjoy a refreshing fruit juice as you check in and settle into your cabin. Once you have taken the time to explore your new surroundings lunch will be served in the restaurant. Enjoy afternoon tea served in the lounge and tonight you will be greeted by your Boat Manager as you enjoy a selection of canapés with some complimentary Egyptian wine and local beer. Gourmet dinner served on board.

Day 2: Philea - Kom Ombo - Edfu Temples

Enjoy the breakfast buffet on board, while you cruise towards the majestic Philea Temple on the Island of Agilika. Later enjoy an Egyptian cooking lesson on board Sun Boat III followed by lunch. Cruise to Kom Ombo. Upon arrival you will have the opportunity to visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the crocodile-god Sobek. The temple stands at a bend in the Nile and, in ancient times, sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the riverbank. Afternoon tea will be served as you cruise to Edfu followed by the opportunity to explore the largest and most completely preserved Pharaonic temple in Egypt, the extraordinary Temple of Horus at Edfu. Dinner on board will be along the theme of a typical “Egyptian Night” with a chance to don authentic costumes, including traditional Egyptian “galabeyas”. Dinner will be a lavish buffet showcasing Egyptian specialities, followed by oriental music and dancing for everyone. The ship docks in Luxor overnight.

Day 3: West and East Bank of Luxor

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast buffet in the restaurant this morning. On your first excursion your Egyptologist will guide you around the Temple of Luxor dedicated to the god Amun and then onwards to the Temple of Karnak. After lunch explore the Valley of the Kings, a vast City of the Dead where magnificent tombs were carved into the desert rocks, decorated richly, and filled with treasures for the afterlife by generations of Pharaohs. You will also have the opportunity to visit at least one tomb in the Valley of the Queens. Your day continues with a visit to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Rising out of the desert plain in a series of terraces, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, Ancient Egypt’s only female Pharaoh, merges with the sheer limestone cliffs that surround it, as if nature herself had built this extraordinary monument. As you head back to the river Nile, your road passes by the famed Colossi of Memnon, known in Ancient Greek times for their haunting voices at dawn. Back on board afternoon tea awaits you. Tonight prepare for your farewell dinner, which will be a formal Gala dinner, with white-gloved waiters serving gourmet cuisine followed by entertainment.

Day 4: Luxor

Enjoy your final breakfast on board before you disembark in Luxor. This marks the end of your cruise.
