SS Legacy

Rivers of Adventure Cruise

The S.S Legacy is an 86-guest replica coastal steamer ship exhibiting old-world charm with all the benefits and amenities of a modern cruise ship. The ship's four decks displays carved wooden cabinetry and turn-of-the-century décor and ample public spaces for guests to relax and cruise in complete comfort. The dining room and lounge are both spacious and warm environments in which to relax and enjoy wonderful regional cuisine and meet fellow guests. All cabin categories have traditional touches but include modern amenities including air conditioning and a flat-screen TV/DVD.

Embark the ship in Portland, Oregon.

Day 1: Portland, Oregon

Check in to your hotel, then go take it all in on your own. Farm-to-table dining, craft breweries, art, museums, shopping—more to explore than you have time, but it’s fun trying. Overnight at Hotel Rose (or similar).

Day 2: Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area - Multnomah Falls

The ship sails to the entrance of the Columbia River Gorge. Situated close by sits the Beacon Rock, where Lewis & Clark camped on their way to the Pacific. Continue to the locks of Bonneville Dam where you will embark on a private tour of the massive turbines and fish ladders at the dam’s Visitor's Centre. Later you will travel by coach to the impressive Multnomah Falls, the tallest falls in Oregon. At 80 miles long and up to 4,000 feet deep, the Columbia River Gorge canyon cuts the only sea level route through the Cascade Mountains.

Day 3: Rowena Plateau - Columbia River Gorge

Today you will discover the lava flows, floods, and volcanic ash deposits that shaped the Rowena—sheer cliffs and wide-stretching plateaus. Opt for a 2-mile round trip hike to the crest of Tom McCall Nature Preserve with expansive views in every direction as your reward. Or, choose the steeper, 3.6-mile round trip Tom McCall Point trail. There’s time to cycle or stroll along the Twin Tunnels Trail—a pedestrian-only section of the historic Columbia River Highway, or tour a Hood River orchard and working farm.

Day 4: Deschutes River

Today you can experience fun on the river with a number of exhilarating activities on offer. Choose whitewater with a Deschutes rafting adventure. Class II and III+ rapids come with names like Elevator and Surf City. Rafting guides provide the gear (including optional wetsuits) and expertise; your ship’s chef provides the picnic lunch. Alternatively on-land you may hike or bike in the canyon of Deschutes River State Recreation Area. Take a dip in a lazy section of the river, and let the sunshine dry you up after a swim.

Day 5: Washington Wine Country, Richland

Award-winning wines come out of the Red Mountain AVA. Sweeping views surround Terra Blanca Winery & Estate Vineyard. A private tour takes you through the vineyards, to the crush pads and production areas, and into their wine caves. After lunch, soak up the beauty of your surroundings with guided yoga stretches in a Richland park. Or, opt to run, walk or bike along the Columbia River Trail. Cruise the river this evening. Relax on the sun deck with a book and a glass of wine—or with your complimentary massage - perfect!

Day 6: Palouse Falls State Park, Snake River

Explore the only remaining waterfall formed by the ice age-era Missoula Floods, hike above the canyon to view the falls—which according to tribal legend, were born after a gallant fight with a mythic creature. Later, skiff out to the kayaks and grab a paddle or go for a swim in the Palouse River. Wind up the afternoon cruising one of the most scenic stretches of the Snake River. After your final upriver locking at Lower Granite Dam, dock in Clarkston, Washington.

Day 7: Hells Canyon

After breakfast, Nez Perce, a tribal member comes aboard for a special story, song, and music presentation. Later, Lewis & Clark, Nez Perce, early Pioneers—signs of the past tell tales on your jet boat ride into the canyon. Look out for sure-footed bighorn sheep, golden eagles, and 7,000-year-old petroglyphs. Hemmed in by vertical cliffs, this free-flowing stretch of the Snake cuts its way through North America’s deepest river gorge. Tonight, celebrate the week tonight with a Farewell Dinner.

Day 8: Clarkston, Washington

After breakfast disembark the ship in Clarkston, Washington. Transfer to the Lewiston, Idaho or Spokane, Washington airport (your choice) to catch your flight home.

Disembark the ship in Clarkston, Washington and transfer to the Lewiston, Idaho or Spokane, Washington airport (your choice) to catch your flight home.
