Spirit of Chartwell

The Spirit of Chartwell is the unique vessel that was chosen and specially adapted to carry the Queen and other members of the Royal Family during the Jubilee River Pageant in June 2012. The deluxe three deck ship was refurbished in 2009 to recreate the understated stylish elegance of the Pullman railway carriages popular in the 1920s. The Spirit of Chartwell now resides in Portugal offering luxury cruising on the Douro river and provides impressive features including tastefully decorated outward facing en-suite cabins, accommodating up to 30 passengers. The observation deck offers alfresco dining and is the ideal vantage point from which to observe the passing scenery, whilst the opulent lounge bar provides a tranquil retreat.

George Bradshaw Lounge and Restaurant

A highlight of the Spirit of Chartwell is the George Bradshaw Lounge and Restaurant which is resplendent in mahogany finishes, sculptured tables, motif studded hardwood flooring, Lalique inlaid panelling and intricate marquetry. This is a very special space, bathed in gentle light from the panoramic windows and ceiling copulas. Here, the attentive liveried stewards serve freshly prepared cuisine and the wine list comprises well-priced house wines as well as more elaborate offerings.

Open Air Viewing Deck

Sun Deck

The ship boasts an open air viewing deck, with a collapsible roof. Enjoy al fresco dining, weather permitting!

Somerset Maugham Piano Bar

As the sun sets, you can retire to the Somerset Maugham Piano Bar to enjoy a cocktail whilst soaking up the convivial atmosphere created by discreet lighting, state of the art sound systems and the occasional recital. At night, the Spirit of Chartwell's rich hardwood finishes and Lalique inlaid glass panels take on a unique glow. You will also be impressed by the full scale model locomotives ‘Grosvenor’ and ‘Hussar’.
