Croatian Coastal Cruises (Traditional)

Kvarner Bay Island Hopping Cruise - Opatija to Opatija (8 Days)

The Croatian Coastal Cruise fleet offers relaxing, scenic cruises around the glittering Dalmatian coastline. The fleet comprises of six different categories of ship. The Traditional category are traditional wooden ships, with an air-conditioned salon and small sun deck furnished with deck chairs. Cabins in this class have a washbasin and bunk beds. Guests will use shared showers and toilets. Services included: continental breakfasts, three course lunches.

Embark the ship in Opatija.

Day 1: Opatija - Krk

Arrive at Opatija ready for the ship’s departure, at 13:00. After having lunch on board the ship will make a stop for you to take a dip in the clear blue water, before continuing to the largest of the islands - Krk. Krk is a diverse island with a charming old town, rocky wilderness, hidden coves and unspoiled beaches. The ship will moor here overnight and you will have free time to explore on your own.

Day 2: Krk Island - Rab Island

Enjoy breakfast on board before sailing to the island of Rab, romantically referred to as the “Island of Love”. The island's main town, also called Rab, is enclosed by medieval walls and is home to churches, palaces and cobbled streets. Enjoy the “street gallery” as you meander, where painters and artists exhibit their work on an optional guided tour or explore at leisure. The ship will spend the night moored in Rab harbour.

Day 3: Rab Island - Zadar Island

After breakfast the ship will set sail from Rab, along the island of Pag, with a stop for some swimming off the tiny island of Maun. In the afternoon the ship continues towards Zadar. Upon arrival here you may wish to take an optional tour of the city with a guide. Alternatively you will have some free time to explore on your own. Zadar is at the centre of the Dalmatian region and has a rich monumental heritage, still evident today. The church of St Donatus, the famous medieval basilica and symbol of the city, dates back to the 9th century. The 16th century City Walls, the famous Zadar Sea Organ and the many villas and palaces are also worth a visit whilst you are here. There are several good restaurants in the city centre – perfect for spending a lazy evening. The ship will moor here overnight.

Day 4: Zadar Island - Molat or Olib Island

Today there will be an early departure towards either Molat or Olib Island (depending upon available space in the small harbours of these islands). The island of Molat is situated to the North of Zadar’s archipelago and is largely unspoiled, due to the minimal development that has taken place there. With just a handful of restaurants and shops Molat offers seclusion and peace. You will have an equally relaxing time on the island of Olib, with its beautiful stretches of golden sand. The Parish Church dates back to 1632 and around 20 Croato-Glagolitic codices are kept here, dating back to the 16th -19th centuries.

Day 5: Molat or Olib Island - Ilovik - Mali Lošinj Island

After breakfast and an early morning swim your cruise continues towards the peaceful island of Ilovik. There will be time for a swim here too before sailing towards Mali Lošinj Island during lunch on board. Mali Lošinj is one of the most popular islands in the Northern Adriatic, on account of its pine trees and clear blue waters. Walk along the harbour or visit the neighbouring town of Veli Lošinj, 5kms away. Later, why not take a night swim off Cikat beach? The ship moors here overnight.

Day 6: Mali Lošinj Island - Cres Island

After a morning swim the ship leaves Mali Lošinj Island and heads towards Cres. This is an unusually shaped island and its long and narrow land is covered with forests, vineyards and olive tree plantations. Cres and Mali Lošinj were once joined but the Romans dug out a channel in the middle, thus dividing them. Spend the evening exploring the medieval city of Cres.

Day 7: Cres Island - Opatija

After breakfast the ship departs for Opatija. On the way, marvel at the breathtaking view of the famous Opatija Riviera. The ship arrives into Opatija during the afternoon and you will have the opportunity to join a guided tour here. Later you can take a stroll along the famous Lungo Mare pathway towards the charming fishing village of Volosko, noted for its excellent fish restaurants. Afterwards, enjoy some farewell drinks on board whilst reminiscing about your cruise.

Day 8: Opatija

After your final breakfast, disembark the ship in Opatija.
