Romantic Danube Cruise

The river cruiser Amethyst offers luxury cruises on the Danube in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Embark the ship in Passau.

Day 1: Passau

Arrive in Passau and board your luxury Amethyst cruise ship from 14:30hrs this afternoon. Unpack and settle into your cabin before joining the Captain and crew for a welcome cocktail and dinner on board the ship this evening.

Day 2: Wachau

Arrive in the Wachau Valley in the morning where you may join an optional Wine Experience excursion which includes a visit to the impressive Goettweig Abbey located just a few miles from Krem where you will also be able to sample some local wines.

Day 3: Budapest

Arrive at Budapest in the morning where you may join an optional excursion to the Puszta or Great Hungarian Plain,which is covered with large ranches where you can watch and learn about the traditional forms of land use and equestrian skills. In the evening you can join an optional 'Budapest by night' excursion which includes strudel and wine tasting.

Day 4: Budapest - Esztergom

Spend the morning in Budapest where you can explore at leisure or perhaps join an optional city tour which will take you to the highlights of both Buda and Pest. Buda, lying on the hills is home of the impressive Fishermen’s Bastion, the Citadel and the Heroes’ Square. Budapest has many cobbled streets and shopping lanes, the famous Opera House and the Parliament building. You may also join an excursion to the Danube Bend.

Day 5: Bratislava

Arrive in Bratislava in the morning, a compact city best explored on foot. Explore at your own pace or join an optional city tour where you will walk through the city's historic Old Town and explore its cobbled streets and small parks. You will also visit Bratislava castle via the city train known as 'Presporacik'

Day 6: Vienna

Arrive in the imperial city of Vienna that has captivated travellers for years with its world class museums, beautiful gardens, elegant shops and cosmopolitan cafe culture. Here you may enjoy an optional city tour which will take you along the famous Ringstrasse, Vienna's main boulevard lined with magnificent Baroque palaces, parks and monuments. You will also visit the lavish Hofburg Palace, Vienna Opera House, St Stephen's Cathedral, the Parliament Buildings and to Schonbrunn Palace. You may also join an optional Vienna by Night tour.

Day 7: Wachau

Arrive in the Wachau Valley in the morning. After breakfast you may join an optional tour of the Austrian valley with its picturesque landscapes formed by the Danube river. Key towns in this area are Melk and Krems. You will stop to visit the impressive Benedictine Abbey in Melk and have time to take explore the town with a visit to a local cellar for a wine tasting.

Day 8: Passau

Disembark in Passau this morning after enjoying your final breakfast on board.
