Cayman Islands Tourist Guide

Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands has long been famed for its mix of bustling banking life and relaxing holiday atmosphere. Offshore, the warm and clear waters make it a popular destination for diving, while onshore the fine beaches, shopping and hiking provide something for every type of holiday. Not surprisingly, these islands are a haven for those wanting a sailing holiday, whether onboard a luxury liner or on one of the smaller, more private yachts.

The main island of Grand Cayman is a modern center for finance, however, the smaller islands of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman offer a more subdued and relaxing experience for the visitor. On land, there are a variety of holiday options, from the Booby Pond Nature Reserve on Little Cayman to the quiet and deserted island of Cayman Brac, which offers an ideal opportunity to escape and explore and discover isolated caves. At night, the Cayman Islands come alive with jazz, reggae and calypso music providing the soundtrack to a perfect dinner at the numerous restaurants and bars, where visitors can sample the local specialties, such as turtle and conch. Offshore, the Cayman Islands is one of the most popular places for diving and snorkeling, and is home to an abundance of marine life, living amongst the coral reefs. The Bloody Bay Wall Marine Park is recognized as one of the world's best dive sites.

The Cayman Island is blessed with a strong sailing heritage and caters for all forms of sea travel. Although larger cruise ships dock on the bigger island, Grand Cayman, smaller boats can sail into other areas and discover the tranquility of the smaller two islands.
